Playing 7" Vinyl on an automatic record player with two settings: 6" and 12"?

Okay so a few years back we bought a new record player... which is automatic and plays 6" and 12" records. I just bought a 7" record from one of my favorite artists: Ratatat. Im pretty stoked to get it, the LP is coming out on Vinyl only so it should be pretty exclusive. anyways im worried that my record player will not play the beginning of the song... :-/ im young and not too knowledgeable with record players either but i know how to operate it. it has a Stop, Start, and Cue on (what is cue??). i want to hear the whole record... not just as if it were a 6 inch... HELP...there's a switch that lets me switch to either 6" or 12" and it automatically goes to that spot and drops to start playing.
