Benzoyl Peroxide left red stain marks on my face!?

So i've never used benzoyl peroxide before, but my brother has a bottle of it. I had these 2 annoying pimples on my face so I decided to rub some of his 8.5% b.p. on them to dry them up or whatever. A couple hours later I noticed I have these awful, noticeable red stains from where I rubbed the stuff. Ewww. Has this ever happend to anyone before? And will it go away by tomorrow? (they showed up around earlier today) If you have any advice to help get rid of them that'd be great too! Thanks.
